China to Release TD-SCDMA Numbers Regionally in Mid November
November 10, 2006
As a follow up to an Asia Express article dated September 29, the Chinese government will be releasing the first batch of TD-SCDMA (Time Division-Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) numbers in Beijing, Qinhuangdao, Qingdao, and Xiamen in mid November. Originally, a total of 20,000 mobile phone numbers were expected to be released, with 5,000 of which aiming for the users in Beijing. However, the amount of TD-SCDMA numbers to be released is likely to be reduced due to shortage of TD-SCDMA chipsets.
